Would your organization like to learn more about the fur trade and skills needed for living in the wilderness 200 years ago? Would a colorful group of voyageurs, bourgeois, mixed bloods, and assorted winterers enliven your next event? Would your visitors enjoy a chance to paddle an authentic looking fur trade canoe, touch-and-feel actual furs and trade goods, or hear a presentation about our region’s exciting fur trade history?
La Compagnie des Hivernants de la Riviere Saint Pierre (the Company of the Winterers of the Saint Peter’s River) may just be the group you have been searching for! Also known simply as La Compagnie or HSP, we are an assorted group ranging from educators to recreational canoeists, but all fur trade enthusiasts. By appearing in period-appropriate garments with our canoes and fur trade goods at historic sites, celebrations, festivals and private events, we recreate, demonstrate and portray the lives and times of the fur trade era in the Upper Midwest.
